Welcome to the campaign! Since the last email from us the list of committed campaigners has grown massively, we would like to send a welcome to all those that have committed! Thank you! This email is going to immediately ask for some action from you! Evening Standard – "Motorbikers deny "parking hate campaign" – PLEASE RESPOND.  We are asking for some action, as a campaign we have refuted allegations [Full details] made by Westminster City Council (Cllr Danny Chalkley) to tarnish our credibility, to label us and stifle public debate against their "experimental" parking tax. A very biased article has been published in the "Evening Standard" [Click to read and comment] (18/03/09) it is a case of the press jumping on the "conflict" rather than reporting the facts, anyway we ask you <<First Name>> to please leave your comment on the website and send in a letter of response to the newspaper regarding their biased article (no matter where in the UK you are from, this helps), their email is: [email protected] or you can call them on 0207 938 7596 ask for Joshua Neicho the letters editor to give your account. Be nice and let them know how you feel, let them know that we as a campaign are a very mixed group of honest hard working citizens and not the "militant", "rogue motorcycle protestors" that Westminster City Council would like everyone to believe. They don’t like opposition to a council scheme (which may we add is an experiment and NOT policy yet, that is the reason for the 31st March 2009 demo to officially present a reasoned opposition, full details here and to give the opportunity for Westminster to "review" their decision) the way they deal with it … they try to hush us up, it is unacceptable from any Local Authority. Sexist jibes from Councillor Burbridge at WCC. On another note one of the councillors at Westminster has reacted to the objections to their "experiment" saying: "To my mind, your notice is not a warning I see it as a threat. Bully-boy tactics until you get your own way. A common symptom of the male species." – Cllr Susie Burbridge in response to a letter of objection. Cllr Burbridge has leapt onto the "hate campaign" bandwagon so fast that she has now landed herself with a sexist jibe which has caused offence not only to those male riders who have been labelled in such a demeaning fashion as louts and bullies, but to female riders who object to this scheme. Were a male councillor to make a statement in the same way regarding women it is only right that he should be forced to apologise immediately. This is what Westminster City Council have resorted to, they tried to ignore us now they go for the attack, we will not stand for it. Campaign news section and 31st March 2009!
