WESTMINSTER COUNCIL SENDING OUT TEMPLATED LETTERS TO LOGISTIC COMPANIES. Cllr Danny Chalkley’s latest attempt to halt the upcoming demonstration on 11th May 2009 has been to send out templated letters to the Westminster list of logistics companies hoping that they will in turn adjust that letter by filling in the blanks with their company name and then forward on to the campaign chairman asking for the campaign to halt their demonstration on 11th May, however looks like this latest debacle by Cllr Chalkley and chums has back-fired. So far only 5 letters have been received by the campaign, all the same, clearly Cllr Chalkley speaking and NOT those companies, they even replied to us and questioned this, not knowing that the same letter had been sent to other companies, they thought they were specially being emailed by Westminster Council awww how nice… unfortunately Cllr Chalkley is using you as drones for him to drone on! The letter sent to us via them from Cllr Chalkley goes like this, we have marked the blanks: "Dear Chairman, I have noted with concern plans by the group "No To Bike Parking Fees" to cause "Monday Mayhem" on Monday 11th May, and would like to register publicly our opposition to this disruptive and disproportionate course of action. I am writing in my capacity as {INSERT JOB TITLE} of the {INSERT COMPANY NAME} who clearly have a significant interest in the effective operation of loading and unloading activity in London. I should make clear that the {INSERT COMPANY NAME} has no comment to make on Westminster City Council’s policy of charging for motorcycle parking. The debate over motorcycle parking is a matter for Westminster City Council and its opponents. However, I completely condemn the proposals to "lay siege to London" and obstruct traffic in the West End. As delivery operators, {INSERT COMPANY NAME} rely on being able to provide a regular, reliable service to their many clients in the West End. Your proposals present a serious threat to our ability to go about our trade, and undermine the claims of "No To Bike Parking Fees" to support local business. I urge you to reconsider this ill-considered and aggressive action as it can only damage commerce in the West End and cause harm to businesses that are already facing very difficult times. Yours sincerely, {ENTER NAME}" (I guess we should just say Cllr Danny Chalkley) The companies we received this templated letter from were: "TradeTeam", "UK Express Networks Forum", "KN Drinks Logistics", "Freight Transport Association" and "DHL (GB)". Looks like someone else out there has already jumped on it have a look at a very interesting blog posted up here. OVER AND OUT! THANK YOU <<First Name>> <<Last Name>> FOR YOUR CONTINUED SUPPORT. See you at the demonstration on Monday 11th May 2009 – Full details here, meeting points, parking areas, times etc… Regards, No To the Bike Parking Tax Committee |
