Dear <<First Name>> <<Last Name>>,- We need you more than ever on 30th September!
- Donations reaching a landmark figure!
- WCC still refusing to reply!
- More bad news for Chalkley.
Demo coming up, we need you there more than ever!
Your attendance to date on the demonstrations has made this campaign what it is. Hand in hand with the work we have been doing in the background, your presence has shaken Westminster’s parking department to the very core. Where is the permanent scheme which was supposed to be introduced in August?! The website still has not changed [look for yourself here], even though it said a decision would be made in ‘August 2009 onwards’, and insiders tell us that for Westminster this is UNPRECENDENTED. This is down to YOUR support and YOUR attendance on the streets of London making your voice heard. Make no mistake about it, we are very close to getting this vile & unjustifiable attack on motorcyclists and scooterists scrapped, and thus it is crucial that we put on an "increasing" show of strength as this could well be a deciding factor. We need you now more than ever, so there can be no doubt that, even after a year of campaigning, we are NEVER going away until it is scrapped. Remember, it is not only Westminster that needs to realise this, we need EVERY OTHER COUNCIL that might dare to contemplate a similar scheme know that they will be fought to the bitter end. We are delighted to report tat our friends within Parking Circles tell us that they know of several such Councils who HAD contemplated but since dropped the idea PURELY as a result of YOUR protestations. So c’mon, let’s ensure that the 30th September is a day that neither the Tory Candidate Selection Committee nor Cllr Chalkley will ever forget, as we inform his electorate exactly what sort of man he is, and the Selectors that he could well lose them a seat. (Also, don’t forget to put the 31st October in your diary for the great Halloween ride-out!) Donations are still coming in, we are reaching a landmark figure. Supporter donations (i.e not including trade donations) are now only £650 away from the crucial landmark of £20,000! So, please, let’s get through that barrier before Friday. The legal fund is a crucial element of the fight against Westminster and it’s vile tax, and the case is now prepared and ready to go – of course Westminster have to make the scheme permanent first, which so far they have shown extreme reluctance to do! WHEN we win the case, or if the case never goes ahead because WCC bottles it, your donations will be returned, or sent on to the London Air Ambulance. So let’s push over that £20,000 barrier and show Westminster what a fight they’ll have on their hands – to donate visit this page, or you can now donate directly to (and thereby save us the Paypal charges): "Warren Djanogly – NTBPT", HSBC Bank plc, Sort Code: 40-02-35, Account: 11411047. Please ensure you "reference" your payment with your name, and send notification of your transfer, including your name, email address & amount to [email protected]
NOTE: Remember your donation is worth another 15% of it’s total because Metropolis Motorcycles will add 15% on top of every donation to date. Westminster Council still refusing to reply. Still no reply on the revelations regarding Westminster’s blatant flouting of the rules on the tendering, or lack of, for the contract awarded to Verrus to manage the pay-by-phone system [View the letter in full that was sent to Westminster Council]. Ladies and gentlemen, the silence speaks VOLUMES. Why have they not refuted the claims? Why have they not provided a copy of the pilot contract? Why are there still FOI’s outstanding [http://www.whatdotheyknow.com/body/westminster_city_council] asking about pay-by-phone, the parking tax, wages, contracts, and more? This one issue could be crucial in defeating this tax, and could prove the straw that breaks the camel’s back, for a simple legally technical reason: the more they want to hide (by not releasing documents) the more importance gets placed on whether they go permanent with the MCS or not, because, as you know, if they do go permanent, we can then launch our legal challenge and DEMAND that all these documents be made available as part of a process known as "pre-action protocol". See my follow-up email to WCC Chief Executive, Mike More here.
More bad news for Chalkley. Word from Cllr Boothroyd, who sits on the WCC Audit & Performance Committee is that Danny Chalkley’s department is currently heading for at least a £10m overspend this year because of a sudden fall in income from parking fines. As the Director of Finance put it, people have just suddenly become law-abiding. This is massively more than any other department. Lets hope Danny’s ineptitude doesn’t result in job cuts from the department, although our communications with some of them has left us wondering what their villages do for idiots whilst they are working at Victoria Street!! See you all on the 30th September and don’t forget your Rosette and Campaign leaflet, both are downloadable from the website home page here.
