- WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP!
- UPDATE ON RECENT EVENTS AND NEWS
THE NEXT DEMO – OCTOBER 31ST – GOLDEN SQ – MIDDAY – WE SCARE THE ‘TAX’ OUT OF WESTMONSTER! The persistence of our campaign, coupled with a legal fighting fund increasing daily has ensured that WCC clearly know they have a major fight on their hands. But, more crucially, the timing of that fight could not be worse for the Political Party so dominantly represented therein. With next year’s general election "too close to call", having their flagship Council very-publicly embroiled in a legal battle against a huge swath of the voting public is a cause of great unease amongst the Party faithful. What better opportunity to heighten those fears than Halloween, Saturday, 31st October meeting at MIDDAY Golden Square, as the NTBPT Parade of riders, from Golden Square once again descends en masse to Westminster City Hall for another spectacular show of strength! However, for this demo to have the effect where it is now needed most, it really needs a massive turn-out. So it is really now down to you guys to not only express your revulsion for this blatant attempt to bring in a new tax by the back door on your freedom and way of life, but also your determination NOT to sit back at accept it. To do that, you NEED to show the authorities how truly angry you are. There’s no point being angry in your house; your office; your computer terminal. YOU have got to join US in hitting the street, so that TOGETHER we can show a united front of rebellion. If you can’t be bothered, then why should they?? THIS TAX WILL BE SCRAPPED OR END UP IN COURT! <<First Name>> <<Last Name>>, WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT AT THIS CRUCIAL TIME! The ride-out will leave Golden Square at 12:30pm on Saturday 31st October. Pre-demo ride leaving Ace Café [Directions to Ace] at 11am (so get there early to sample the fine fayre). IF YOU WISH TO ORGANISE A RALLYING POINT LET US KNOW AND WE’LL PUT IT ON THE WIRES!!! WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP! While the core of the Campaign are working on the legal case, and planning the details of demos and meetings, we need YOUR help to get more people there. After all, how did you first hear about the campaign? Via a friend? A flier on your bike? Facebook? A poster in your local shop? Or just someone coming up to you and telling you why that traffic warden had fined you for parking your congestion busting mode of transport?! Here are some of the things we NEED your help with!
John, our man in the printing press, has designed some fabulous posters, fliers and strip fliers that we need to get out to every bike possible. Here’s what you can do… download the PDFs [Flier x4 Colour] – [Flier x4 Mono] – [A Large Poster] – [Flier Strips x8 Colour] – [Flier Strips x8 Mono]. Print them out, take a poster to your local bike shop or garage and ask them to put it up. On the way, flier some bikes. And keep some more in your pocket for people you meet on the way. If you cannot print them and are in Central London most days, get in touch with us and we’ll tell you where you can pick some up! Easy as pumpkin pie! We found THIS enterprising rider who put up a poster rather similar to THIS one we’ve attached on a traffic light! Really, who’d have thunk it, putting a poster like that on a traffic light… [Download the traffic light poster here]
We need a flat-bed truck for speeches! Are any of you in a band that would like to perform on the day? Do you run a food stand or burger van? If you think you can help on the day we would greatly appreciate it! Contact us here if you can.
We’ve got ToryTax, but for every community you can think of there is a forum. If you are in a club, or know of any relevant forums, visit the forum and start a thread about the demo and the campaign. The more people are talking, the more will come, and the better the demo will be! Do you run a forum?! Let us know by contacting us here and we’ll link to your forum from ours! - RADIO STATIONS AND TV CHANNELS!
Dedication or requests for songs for "those taking part in Saturday’ (or Today’s) demo from Golden Sq…" are great FREE advertisers for the demo. With many Radio Station now accepting such requests by email, why not create a request that goes to as many as you can. Or simply call them – we have also created a form on our website which allows you to contact some radio stations (use it only on the run-up to the next demo), but it is better if you email them personally or call them.

Also, the torytax.com forum is going strong and needs YOUR input! Also, it is a great way to find out more about what is happening, download posters and fliers, and have YOUR say on the way the Campaign is run. We had a fantastic display on 30th September [Watch the video report from that demo here] as the Campaign descended on Vincent Square (Cllr. Chalkley’s electoral ward) to lobby the residents and hand out leaflets directing them to a fantastic website called ‘Nutsville‘, which dishes the dirt on everything Westminster’s Parking department has been up to over the past year! [VIDEO REPORT] We were universally well received by residents that met us on the evening, and the behaviour of the riders on arrival was exemplary – showing that we are not the rogues Chalkley and his team like to make us out to be! The case against Westminster’s introduction of the parking charges continues to develop, and Chalkley has been left under no illusion that should he ram through this despicable tax, he will find himself in the dock in front of a judge. This point was reinforced in an ‘informal’ meeting Chalkley requested not only with the Campaign Chairman, but separately with other parties such as the BMF, and the MCIA. While the meeting itself was bereft of any substance from the scheme’s architect, it did provide an interesting window into the way Chalkley likes to view you, the public. His total lack of appreciation that he is preparing to ignore thousands of you, and his arrogant dismissal of all the flaws that will ultimately bring down his tax should he press ahead, showed beyond a doubt how important it is that this tax, and with it it’s head man, is defeated! When pressed on what result of his ‘experiment’ would have led him to scrap the tax, he was unable to find a proper answer… draw from that what you will… |
