Hello <<Last Name>>,Our message this week is by far and away the most important of the campaign to date, with 3 of the most prolific announcements, for which we ask for your careful attention:- - 1) The High Court names the day!
- 2) The "Final Fifties"
- 3) The Mother of All Demos
Hot on the heels of a hugely well-attended weekend demo, where over 500 of you joined us to disperse leaflets all over WCC Leader (Photos – Video 1, Video 2), Colin Barrow’s ward in an attempt to alert the electorate to the character of the man they chose last time round, and as we prepare to repeat it on Wednesday evening when the WESC has its second outing (5th May 2010 sign up for free SMS location alert here), with Cllr Chalkley’s ward the final destination, we write with 3 of the biggest pieces of news to date. The High Court Names The Day!Finally, and following many hours of preparation and filing of claims & witness statements, these only made possible with the incredible donations so far, we have been alerted by the High Court that "our day in Court" has been listed for: Thursday 24th June 2010 We will hopefully be furnished with more details regarding viewing galleries and waiting areas in the Court near the time. Whilst many of you will relish viewing the proceedings, we would also encourage as many of you as possible to help fill the Strand outside the Court in a display of solidarity with those inside. The main element of this news is that the campaign against the blatant attack on the least demanding group of road-users is that an end is in sight. Win or lose, we will have given the biggest Council in the country one helluva bloody-nose, whilst exposing the more dubious aspect of their behaviour regarding the way they look after their own, and their pals that provide private services to the Council, with the residents and rate-payers’ interests way down the priority list. And that is purely down to what has been described by many as the most dynamic campaigns ever witnessed in the UK, and certainly, contrary to what they might try and con the press into believing, absolutely like nothing this council has ever experienced. The "Final Fifties" – the last time we ask you for money!!Whilst we have been encouraging you to donate when you can, the plain truth is that, to see the job comfortably through, we need to raise not only the remaining £20k, but an additional £10k on top. However, we are delighted to announce that we have been given the most tremendously philanthropic gesture. A regular supporter, who wishes to remain anonymous has promised to MATCH any donation of £50 (or multiples thereof), be it from individuals, groups, friends, clubs whoever. Therefore, whilst we now seek donations of £50, you can rest assured that this will be the FINAL donation we will need ask of you. And with this incredible offer, the number of donations of £50 has now halved. We will display a table which we have aptly named the "Final Fifties" and the list will comprise 300 slots. For you to enter your name (or that of your group/club/company etc.) and let’s get those filled asap by completing the NEW "Final Fifties Donations" located on this page and follow the instructions there. For the majority of you who would find £50 way out of reach, don’t despair – you can still donate what you can, and it will added to a collection pot known as "Friends of NTBPT" and whenever that fund passes £50, it too will be added to the 300 list. And finally, the announcement that got the biggest cheer at our demo last Saturday!!…the mother of all ride-outs.On Saturday 19th June, we shall ride for one complete lap of the M25 (117 miles) in the inaugural "London – the long way round" Parade, Once this is primarily for the thousands of you who want be able to attend the hearing days which are during the working week in the centre of London, and whilst we appreciate that many smaller cc machines would be excluded, there are 3 other powerful, and highly symbolic reasons:- - a) to really show everyone that still sides with the robber-barons of Westminster Council, as well as the law-makers and the Court the true extent of the "army" of malcontents circling and surrounding the Metropolis
- b) to send a clear signal to all the other London (and non-London) councils that may be tempted to follow Westminster’s lead
- c) to show that the bikers are reforming as in days of old to once again become one of the most powerful lobbying groups in the UK.
Starting at the M40 junction, we will ride clockwise around the M25 hopefully being joined by you & bikers from all over the country at your/their preferred junction. As we intend to cruise at a safe 45mph, we will post estimated times that we anticipate to be passing each junction, and we will be making full 15 minute pit-stop at each of the service stations to allow re-fuels; leg-stretches; bum-reviving etc but more crucially, a chance to pick up other riders safely. Please take note that this inaugural run will be unashamedly fund-raising for the legal fund by asking anyone joining us to contribute £5. We intend to use these as the official count for the numbers that attended, so, should you ride but not contribute, alas, you won’t be counted! We hope to be able to offer both "I was there" t-shirts and commemorative hi-viz’s in the run-up to June 19th, but the main emphasis will be on encouraging you all to become OUR promotional department. We really need to you pass the word to make this ride-out, even though its the first time, one of the best attended. Friends, the end of our "journey" together may well be in sight, so please help us in this our final furlongs to ensure that our legacy is permanently etched in the minds of the bureaucrats lest they ever want to challenge the biking community again. And whatever may befall the campaign, lets hope the "London – the long way round" becomes and annual charity event that keeps that legacy alive. See as many of you as possible at either, or both Wednesday’s WMBC & WESC on 5th May 2010 (Reg for free SMS location alert here)
