If anyone would like help in fighting a ticket at PATAS I am very experienced having one 15 odd so far this year because I own and operate a delivery van in London and I am inundated with PCN’s so much so that I am considering relocating my buisness out of the capital.

An update on my previous post of August 21 2011, just to let anyone know. I appealed against a parking ticket from RBKC for MOTORCYCLES PERMIT BAYS to the PATAS and I got the PCN cancelled. Here is the letter I received from PATAS:

Adjudicator reason:

The carriageway legend “M/C PERMIT ONLY” is not a permitted variant of Diagram 1028.4 Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002 and there is no evidence that this form of words has been authorised by the Secretary of State. I do not consider that the variation can be said to be substantially compliant with what the Regulations require particularly in a case where the motorist clearly failed to understand what was meant. As the bay was incorrectly and insufficiently clearly signed the vehicle was not in contravention and the Appeal is allowed.

If anyone get a PCN for those motorcycles permit bays DO NOT PAY THE PCN but appeal against it all the way to the “Parking And Traffic Appeal Service”

My son went away to visit his friend and came back after a few days to a parking ticket on his bike.It is in a residential area and mentions permits.He however lives there,but he has aspergers and his logic is that he is a resident and there is no place to put a permit on his bike and he does not really understand why he has a ticket.Is there any way we can appeal,and what would be best to say.He has been there since April and never been given a ticket before.Advice please.

This is in response to Trun Nanda’s point ,
The fact is that motorbike are not the Greenest way to travel, and yes in some bikes do take up a lot of space when they are on the road.

But you cannot avoid the fact that on a 2 meter by 10 meter parking space you will be able to park more motorbikes then cars.

our tube system and buses are almost full and the morning run to work, for most Londoners is possibly the worst part of the day, the motorbike is a serious alternative to the car although it is not the best, where possible people should try and understand that a motorbike is correct not the best answer to our problem in London but it is a better answer then a car.

Until be deal with the bigger problem of London, people should be encouraged to ride and not drive.

Hi Guys! Ok today i’ve parked in Westminster my scooter, and as i was in a rush i didnt ahve my mobile with me and nor access to an internet as iw as going to an interview! Now what should i do? Shall I appeal to the ticket saying that i didnt have a phone and i couldnt call in? and tell them that they should have parking meter too in case this things happens? My though is that a person is not obliged to have a landline a mobile or internet, and so they should put other means of payment for this service… But if i think with a devil’s advocate mind, they could say that is my responsibility… to find a phone and the way to pay! What do you think guys… and then the phone lost/forgot excuse must have been used 1000′s times no?
