Continue reading »]]> Come ‘celebrate’ the re-election of Boris Johnson at the next WESC, a man who needs plenty of reminders about the presence of powered two wheelers in London, judging by his pre-election Transport Manifesto, which seemed to skirt over the other group of two-wheeled vulnerable road users.

With motorcycles and scooters now allowed in bus lanes within Westminster, the parking tax looks more and more out of touch with the increasing realisation that p2w’s are part of the solution to the daily transport chaos of our capital city.

The changes to bus lanes are a step in the right direction, but until Westminster stops charging people to park in their borough, it’s hard to tell whether they are trying to encourage or discourage the congestion-busting mode of transport we all choose to ride.

Continue reading »]]> Considering the weather conditions, it was another good turnout for the latest Wednesday Evening Supper Club, as around 30 riders braved the wind and rain to find an oasis of calm at Trafalgar Square.

The rain held off, but that only seemed to irritate the police presence even further, as they tried to get people to move up six inches, go through red lights and avoid using lanes they were entitled to use.

All the while, they seem to miss the point that they are causing huge tailbacks in the area themselves, by preventing traffic coming onto the roundabout, causing even more congestion as traffic is forced to sit for hours, trying to get through the gridlock.

With the police getting out warning fingers on a number of occasions the protest was forced to continue until well after 7pm, as riders were delayed to discuss lanes you have to go straight on in which don’t have any markings to that effect, or not hearing instructions to go through red signals.
